about

i wrote this song for my sister Julie's wedding to her hubby Jason. i performed it in their wedding ceremony in June 2007.

lyrics

birds they fly
from branch to branch & through the sky.
they catch your ear & catch your eye.
i've looked at each,
some i've even tried to reach
through the distance of my view.
it was you.
it was you.
flowers grow
inside the earth, outside my window.
their names i've come to know.
i watch them rise,
craning their necks to reach my eyes.
of them there are few.
it was you.
it was you.
i feel as though i've found the name,
the one that means my soul the same,
who wants to meet me,
greet me every morning with the world.
i feel as though i've found the name,
the one that means my soul the same,
two lives complete.
dance to the same beat,
let's dance to the same beat.
it was you.
it was you.

She’s “graceful” and yet, as Rolling Stone asserts, possessing “all the vibe in the world.” ... more
