about
Suzanna Choffel recorded this in 2019 just before the birth of her second daughter. She wrote the song after going through ridiculous hoops with health insurance after her first daughter was born. She could not believe what a racket the whole thing was and it angered her every time she saw older wealthier white male politicians constantly making decisions about the American people's affordable access to healthcare, especially womens healthcare.
The concept of "good problems" is a constant loop in Choffel's head as she recognizes that compared to most, she has very minor worries - good health and a roof over her head, healthy children and plenty of food to eat. She wrote this song for all of those who struggle with actual problems and to hopefully inspire folks to vote for leaders who actually want to help everyone out, not just the wealthy, not just the privileged.
$1 of every track purchased will go to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) The ACLU dares to create a more perfect union — beyond one person, party, or side. Their mission is to realize this promise of the United States Constitution for all and expand the reach of its guarantees.
lyrics
I've got good problems if that's what you wanna call them,
Not even worthy of solving.
I've got a sweet disposition, rose-colored vision,
But I can smell what you're cookin' in your kitchen.
And it's not good, it's not even food.
I know you wouldn't eat it so what makes you think we should?
And it's not kind what you do behind closed doors.
Tell me one more time now who are you working for?
See you've never had to choose what to keep or what to lose,
So I suppose it's no surprise, no big news,
That you'd ignore all the ones with no means, no big guns
To fight for the rights of their daughters & their sons.
And it's not good, no it's just plain rude,
To not help your brother when you so easily could.
And it's not kind what you do behind closed doors.
Tell me one more time now who are you working for?

Suzanna Choffel is many things: a rising star, an undeniable musical force and a unique voice (a “honeyed husk,” as it’s
been posited) who feels equally at home singing in a dimly-lit, smoky club as she does front and center in front of (literally) millions. She’s “graceful” and yet, as Rolling Stone asserts, possessing “all the vibe in the world.”...more
